With the recent happenings within the country circle regarding the controversial #saladgate topic, we here at UKCM felt it about time to introduce to our readers to a fabulous new female artist. Meet Cam! We hope you’ll love her as much as we do because she’s about to take the country world by storm!

Hailing from California, she uses her west coast influence in her musical stylings but insists she was brought up on true country values from her Grandfather. This may be why moving to Nashville was such a good fit for Cam, who originally set out to become a writer as well as an artist. Even after many knock backs from industry insiders who told her that her dreams of writing her own songs were unrealistic, Cam stuck to her guns and didn’t move away from her goals. Cam knew that in order to make a name for herself in country music, she needed to bring something different to the table. After having songs recorded by country’s Maggie Rose and even Miley Cyrus, Cam finally released her very own debut EP, Welcome To Cam Countryearlier this year and it’s absolutely getting people talking.

You may be asking yourself “What’s with the ambiguous name?” as where most country singers use their full name; Cam decided that wasn’t going to work for her. After originally going by Cameron Ochs, she found her difficult last name was getting more attention than her art and with so many vying for the exposure in Nashville, Cam knew she had to be wise and cut it down. Going by Cam did however feel more natural. She wanted her fans to feel connected and close to her and by using the nickname her friends already attached to her, seemed like a great choice. With this in mind, before even listening to her music, you kind of know what you’re going to get – in the best way. Cam is a bubbly, approachable artist with music to match. Don’t worry though, her powerful yet silky voice is absolutely addicting making her the total package.

With all this in mind, it seems like country radio is starting to listen. Burning House, from Cam’s debut EP, received a massive 95 ‘adds’ on radio in one week. That’s not all either, as the support has also stemmed from big names and landed her opening sports, supporting numerous artists including Dan + Shay, Lee Brice and Jake Owen.

With a debut album on the cards and the industry’s biggest names, such as Jeff Bhasker (P!nk, Taylor Swift, Beyonce) playing a helping hand, it seems that things have started on a good footing for Cam and we couldn’t be more pleased. Cam has an inviting way about her and lends this to her affinity for the colour yellow – a colour you will often see her sporting. Cam has previously stated that everyone is nicer to her when she wears the yellow and that it’s become somewhat of a signature for her, but with such a friendly smile and quality music, we can’t imagine why anyone would be anything but cheerful around her. It would surely be impossible not to.

With all this in mind, UKCM hopes to have piqued your interest in country’s newest, brightest star! With a mix of elegance, romance, traditional essence mixed with a modern vibe, we can’t see a fault and look forward to seeing what’s next for Cam!
